Penn Park
The University of Pennsylvania has reimagined a 24-acre industrial site and former postal parking lot, creating a state-of-the-art athletic park. This expansive complex not only elevates UPenn's world-class athletic facilities but also serves as a welcoming, green gateway to the campus. Overcoming significant site constraints posed by railways, rivers, and city streets, the project achieved an elegant layout featuring two synthetic turf fields, one with a year-round air structure, an elite softball stadium with spectator seating and a press box, and twelve post-tension concrete tennis courts with overlook seating. The park's design seamlessly integrates these athletic components with meandering pathways, dark-sky compliant lighting, and extensive plantings to mitigate urban heat, creating a vibrant community space.
